Veterinary Imaging

The Department of Medical Imaging and Small Animal Orthopedics of Ghent University is involved in teaching, research and clinical work, mainly on small animals (cats, dogs), exotics and large animals (horses, cattle). We have 1 open MRI unit, 1 CT (with separate mobile bed for horses), 2 X-ray units for small animal work and 1 for large animals, 2 ultrasound machines for small animals and 2 for horses, 1 triple head gamma camera (mainly for brain imaging and HiSPECT) and 1 dual head camera for clinical and research work. Our strength lies in the fact that because of the parallels in natural occurring pathology in dogs and cats with some human diseases, we have the opportunity to combine clinical work with translational research.
